Full Flower Moon: Spell & Ritual (May)

May is the month of the Flower Moon. Full Moon celebrations are sometimes known as Esbats and they are periods of high energy. But May’s Flower Moon also occurs when Nature is at full bloom (in the Northern Hemisphere), the flowers are widespread and Life simply thrives all around. Thus the Flower Moon is known to be a particularly ripe time for any kind of Full Moon ritual.

Full Flower Moon

May is also the month of the Fire Festival Beltane. This is traditionally a time to celebrate fertility, abundance, and the creative spark. It was the time of the year when the Beltane fires were lit and danced around and celebrants wrapped towering Maypoles with a profusion of colorful ribbons. Here is a simple spell to awaken a time of creativity within you.

How does this spell work?

  • Red candles are used to invoke the Fire element, passion, and creativity. The profusion of red in this ritual will bring in the energies of creation.
  • Fire is the element most associated with change, with creativity, and with a dramatic movement from one state to another. Be sure to really focus on the fire while doing this ritual.
  • This is one of the most powerful times of the year, and the Flower Moon is known to be a force of power. A Full Moon ritual in the month of Beltane will infuse you with energy, drive and passion.

The best day for this spell is a Sunday, but you should enact this ritual on any of the three nights that the Moon is full in May.
