Waxing Moon Magick

Just as each season has a unique character and atmosphere, so too does each phase of the moon. From full to new, waning and waxing, the cycles and phases of the moon hold a power that can help guide and enhance a witch’s practice.

This week, we pick up where we left off after the previous Waning Moon Challenge to honor the moon in the waxing part of her journey. This part of the monthly moon cycle includes the Waxing Crescent , First Quarter , and Waxing Gibbous moons.

While each individual step in the cycle has its own correspondences, all three of the waxing phases share certain qualities. As such, all stages of the waxing phase are ideal for magick that involves increase, growth, development, strength, and action.

Challenge Entry
Moon Energy in a Cord
I like to follow the phases of the moon when designing a spell, but I often find myself wanting to banish when I should be attracting, and vice versa. Last night I tried a spell I found in one of Marion Weinstein’s books. It allows one to store the attributes and energy of the moon phase one is experiencing and then one can use it later when the moon is not in a favorable phase for the type of magic desired. The attributes are directed into a length of cord and held there by 9 knots. One can then draw down the moon power at any time of the month by placing the cord on the altar.
Here is my version of the spell.
I chose a gold cord for the New and Waxing phases, a red cord for the Full Moon, and a blue cord for the Waning and Dark phases.
Last night I primed the gold cord because I was in the New Moon and Waxing Phase.
I lit the Goddess candle.
With my athame I drew a pentagram over the candle flame and then traced a line of power from the flame into the cord, saying:
By the One Power
Working for and through me
I hereby call on You, Athena,
To enter this cord with Your Power
To charge this cord
Enter this cord
Stay in this cord
For the good of all
And according to free will
For the work of Positive Magick only
To aid me in my work
At the appropriate times,
According to Your Will
As these knots are tied …

Then I tied 9 knots in the cord, equidistant from one another, using the ninth to create a circle.

So Mote It Be!

I left the cord around the candle for a while and then wound it up, and put it in a pouch on the altar.

To activate the cord at a later date, either hold it or put it around the Goddess candle. There is no drain of energy, but if you wish you can recharge it under the appropriate phase of the moon.
When the moon is full, I will do the spell with the red cord, and a few days later with the blue cord.
I am going to try and find some charms to add to the cords to remind me which phase they are attached to.

So i know kinda obsessed with my card spreads and oracle and tarot cards a bit when it comes to challenges but yeah decided a simple 3 card spread for waxing moon that found on Pinterest.

I sent myselfthe link to where its from above to my email so could link it in here and used my Queen of the moon oracle deck on my rockpool deck app. I screen shot tge cards and just overlay on a screen shot of the spread so i could see the sprrad and cards together on phone.

I just used microsoft word for that then screen shot and cropped to share here.

It seems perhaps that i need to stop trying to make things happen by constantly being busy and never stopping and doing things by myself but rather recognising i need help and allowing myself to be helped. Wgether by people around ne or the universe or spirit guides or guardians. Also it seems that expecting things to happen that might not of thought possible would go a long way here. Perhaps its not possible on my own but rather with the help of others those things may be possible and achievable

During this waxing moon I cast the Step Into My Power spell found in the Tarot by the Moon by Victoria Constantino

I anointed my white candle with
Olive oil
Rosemary for confidence
Thyme for courage and strength
Lavender for inner-peace and self-confidence
Cayenne pepper for strength and empowerment

When I was done the spell I was thinking about what I am going to say at an upcoming work meeting. There is one that doesn’t hear. I felt myself getting tense, and defensive.

I am going to repeat this spell during this waxing moon and I am adding in the intention of communication with the thyme herb.

As well, I have a little jar of honey that holds my offering to Freyja. I had a thought to add it to the altar I made for the spell but then I was like “no, that doesn’t make sense”. Bah! Honey can sweeten the communication.

So at the next spell to step into my power, I am adding the honey to the altar and inviting Freyja.

We are on the 1st Quarter Moon, so I decided to see what I had about this moon phase because lately, my memory has been escaping me at the most inconvenient times. ANYWAY Here we go:

First Quarter Moon

Keywords: Confident Action

Phase Influence: We are motivated and self-assured. At this halfway point in the waxing cycle, there’s a subtle vibration of strength. Confidence is growing with the moon’s light, and we feel inspired to take action toward manifesting our highest-centered goals.

With ALL of that in mind, plus my incessant need to look at the skies at night, along with being at this point hit upside the head by cards & deities for a couple of weeks, I feel like I’m starting to figure some things out. Find some balance. I have the energy (a definite change from my recent mornings) & the motivation and drive to get things back together. It’s almost like… the very hardest part is over. Now we are onto the 2nd hardest part (at least for me) waiting

At least I wrote down the mantra to keep in my pocket going through the next few days. I also would like to say that at one point, I lost a Tiger’s Eye bead that I would use for another set of meditation/prayer beads. I happened to find one the other day! So that was exciting and now seems relevant! Of course, I put it in a safe place so… now I just have to remember where that is

Challenge Entry: phew! I made it in time and am now ready to sit back and relax. Got up with my husband this morning (3:30am) so I could get this challenge done, and spell accomplished, before I officially start my daily “stay at home mom” routine! Monday’s are my favorite day of the week, I’m usually pretty productive and feel good physically/mentally. Was ready to tackle the day!

For this challenge, I did the Motivational Candle Spell and deep cleaned my bedroom closet! I should have taken before pictures, but am also kind of ashamed of the state it was in. Haha but it’s all better now, thanks to the help of this spell & goddess Diana.

I call upon the universe, and Diana, for motivation on a regular basis for daily tasks, and recently to start a garden, so this challenge was a nice opportunity for me to try a new spell while staying in my comfort zone! I feel amazing after accomplishing this task that I’ve been putting off (and accumulating more mess) for months. I also feel a bit more connected to my beloved Diana. Blessed be!
