šŸš Weekly Witchy CHALLENGE - Of Seas, Sands, and Tides

A warm welcome to all!

Thank you again to everyone who joined in for last weekā€™s Weekly Witchy Challenge - As Above, So Below :people_hugging:

After exploring the complexities of interconnectivity in the Craft, itā€™s time to give your thoughts a rest and let the waves wash over you- weā€™re sinking deep into a raw and primal area of magick :ocean:

The theme for this weekā€™s challenge isā€¦

Ocean Magick Water Element Spells Challenge

:ocean::coral: Of the Seas, Sands, and Tides: Ocean Magick :beach_umbrella: :shell:

The ocean enchants all who behold it- once you lay eyes on the waves and hear the song of the sea, it will call to you for the rest of your life.

The ocean has been here long before humans and will remain here long after we are gone. Science tells us that it is the birthplace of life on Earth (source) :baby:, yet it remains to be one of the few areas on Earth that is still largely undiscovered- more than 80% of the ocean remains unexplored (source) :mag_right:

The ocean is a vast, ancient, magickal place whose raw power can be felt even by those who have not embraced the Craft. It is a sacred presence across traditions, religions, and spiritualities that honor the natural world and is the very heart of the water element- one of the five elements of magick. If you ask anyone who has spent time by the sea, they will surely tell you that the ocean is a beautiful yet powerful (and often dangerous!) force of nature :cyclone: :cloud_with_lightning_and_rain:

There is so much to be said about the raw power and ancient magick of the seas- this challenge calls on you to explore, study, and draw upon this vast force in a way that calls to you!

Donā€™t live near the ocean? No worries!
Long ago, the world was a different place- what is now dry sand was once submerged beneath the waves. The Sahara Desert used to be underwater (source)! Even if you canā€™t see the sea, its traces stretch much farther than its current waves.

Feel free to celebrate and embrace the sea through any way you choose no matter where you are- ocean spells, meditations, and astral travel are all wonderful ways to explore sea magick this week! :ocean:

This weekā€™s theme challenges you to explore ocean magick - but as always, how you do so is up to you!

STEP 1 : The Call of the Ocean :shell:

There is an ocean of ways to approach this challenge- and if youā€™re like me and get super excited at the thought of ocean magick, perhaps you might be a Water Witch!

Are You a Water Witch?

Whether you already have a head full of plans or are still unsure, feel free to be creative with how you tackle this challenge

Not sure where to begin?

To help you get started, the following list has a few ways in which a witch might approach this challenge! :sparkles:

:ocean: Spellwork of the Seas

Consider exploring spellwork and rituals that call upon or invoke the power of the seas. Use ready made rituals, or consider writing your own custom spell.

:full_moon: The Ocean and The Moon

Like the hearts of the witches, the sea is also enraptured by the moon. It chases after the moon in the sky, tides rising and falling and waves lapping up the heavenly glow.

Consider adding an element of the sea to your moon magick this week!

Note: the moon is in the water zodiac sign of Scorpio on Saturday and Sunday this week

:droplet: Water Elemental Magick

When it comes to water elemental magick, there is no stronger force or greater presence than the massive body of water that covers the majority of our planet. Consider doing a water meditation, invocation, or working with Water Elementals to connect with the sea!

:salt: Sacred Salt

For every kilogram of ocean water, there is about 35 grams of salt (source)- that is some salty water! As many witches know, salt is sacred in magick as a tool for purification, cleansing, and protection.

To honor the ocean, consider working some saline magick this week! (If you have the option, use sea salt- it is more natural and healthier than table salt)

oooo perfect timing.

June 3 was my wedding anniversary to my husband - 23 years together and 16 married.

We went to the beach and I collected some shells and some stones.

I even found a wishing stone!

Remember the jar I made from my momā€™s service flowers? I added all the items I collected inside this jar.

I also added a slip of paper with the date and an affirmation chant.

It now sits on the altar that I created for my mom. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

What an awesome challenge! Of course, I lived in Florida for 35 years, and now I live in a landlocked state, but I spent most of my life in the ocean, so itā€™s not hard to draw upon the energy. Iā€™m excited; this will be fun!!

I both love and fear the ocean. When youā€™re in a plane and you look down, that gives you an idea just how deep the known ocean is. Only about 5% of the ocean has been mapped and there might actually be areas deeper than The Challenger Deep. There is something about a watery darkness that justā€¦ :fearful:

There are thousands of shipwrecks on the ocean floor. One of the most famous is the RMS Titanic. I must have watched every single documentary on and read every single article on Titanic. April 15th was the 110th anniversary of the sinking.

Iā€™m thinking of doing a ritual to honor the 1500 souls who lost their lives that night. And I know who to work withā€¦Delphin, the draconic god of the ocean.

I love Wednesdays! Just for the fact that itā€™s New Challenge day!! Iā€™m always so excited to see what the new topic is and to get my gears in motion thinking about what I will do!

Once again I donā€™t know right off what I will do for this one, but I do love it! I grew up in landlocked states but would visit my grandparents yearly in either Pawleyā€™s Island, SC, or their home in St. Augustine, FL. I was the kid always in the water, playing in the waves, wandering the tide pools looking for critters, and hunting up seashells! The topic alone brings up fond memories, which is perfect timing as June is a hard month for me - which is a subject for another post!

Thank you @BryWisteria for putting this together and all your hard work! I am looking forward to reading everyoneā€™s entries!

This is a Lunar Return for me! Iā€™m looking forward to this challenge. In fact, I was just thinking, a few days ago, about the ocean-related things I have collected that I could use if we ever had a challenge about the ocean!

I am fascinated by the ocean, itā€™s enchanting and mesmerizing but I am living close to the Rocky Mountains. I grew up in these mountains, and no matter where I lived, I was always called back to them.

Thank you so much, @BryWisteria this will be an interesting challenge. :ocean: :coral: :mermaid:

Ok I am going to admit to be one lucky little ducky. Perth has about 80km of coastline with 19 city beaches. So I kind of have my choice here. Beaches for me are anywhere from 30 mins to over an hour away. Depends on which piece of coastline you want to go to.

I could either go ā€œnorth of the riverā€ and head of to Hillarys Boat Harbour. Pretty much as north of the river as north goesā€¦ it is beautiful at Hillarys or stay a little closer to home and keep it ā€œsouth of the riverā€ and head to Freoā€¦ good olā€™ Freo. Itā€™s a total ā€œthingā€ the whole north and south of the river.

Hereā€™s a map with just a few - mostly north of the river shown here though - there a more beaches further south like Mandurah and Rockingham. Might just help a little. Iā€™m south of the river. The big river running horizontally is the Swan River - thatā€™s how you determine north and south of the river and the one that shoots off and runs down is the Canning River - thatā€™s how you get Perth metroā€™s south east or south west.

images

And yesā€¦ for anyone who spots itā€¦ you do pronounce it how it looks ā€œin-a-looā€ trust me thatā€™s not the worstā€¦ Cockburn is the worst itā€™s pronounced ā€œco-burnā€ the ck is silent.

Hmmmm whichever way I go it will have to be a dog beach so they boys can come with me. Dillon hasnā€™t had a trip to the beach yet and Denzel will most likey find something nice and dead and smelly to roll in.

Itā€™s a forecast for pretty wild weather this weekend, end of the week - Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday ish. Storms, wind, rain ect. I feel even more inclined to visit the beach on a wild and wooly day. Thereā€™s just something about the ocean when sheā€™s wild that is just a little more exciting.

Iā€™m finally free from covid isolation after testing positive last Monday. It completely floored me. But Iā€™m ok now. I was so annoyed. I tried so hard not to catch it. Then my boss brings it in to work. Grumble grumble grumble.

Thatā€™s actually probably just what I need to blow the cobwebs out. Been feeling sad and sorry for myself, copped up and just pretty crappy. Iā€™ll Iā€™ve had is time to think and think and think. Iā€™ve been in my own head so much. Why canā€™t we just be nice to ourselves?!

I think a little Ocean Magick to kick me up the backside and get me out of myslef is just what I need.

Side note:

I actually just found out this week that my rising sign is Scorpio. Reading about that. It makes a whole lot of sense. So Iā€™m a rising Scorpio, sun Virgo and moon Pieces.

And my combination of western and eatern zodiac was Virgo and snake which was a jellyfish. So a few water element connections there.

Oh and thought to share these that I found while perusing Pinterestā€¦ as you doā€¦

Oh, this is exciting!! We go to the gulf coast here in Texas quite often. I have a huge collection of sea shells, sea glass, and drift wood. Whenever I go, at some point during our trip, Iā€™ll wander away from everyone and do a release spell. Iā€™ll meditate for a few minutes then write in the sand what I want to let go of and let the waves wash it away.

Iā€™ll have to think what I want to do this week. I do live on a river that has brackish water (mix of salt water and fresh water) but itā€™s also extremely polluted where Iā€™m at. I might be able to convince my husband to drive down river a little ways though.:thinking::thinking:

Oooā€¦ i love water in general & live basically on an island. I can look across the street & see the ocean or the path to it

I also have sea shells that Iā€™ve collected on my altarā€¦ hmmmā€¦ soany ways to approach this challenge.

I usually go to the ocean once a day in the summer for a cleansing swim over an hour each afternoon. I cleanse certain crystals & jewelry woth it & rinse it when I get home.

More thinking

Well, i canā€™t do much lately without my light not working. Its not the bulb, its electrical. Someoneā€™s coming to look at it.

Anyway, i have pearls, a coral tower and shells that i consecrated. I used them in a full moon ritual for a soothing mind the way water soothes me.
I used to be on a crew team and one trip, we camped over a weekend. The first night as i lay there, it felt as if i were still in the canoe being rocked like the waves. That was so magical for me! When i think of a happy place, itā€™s at this moment!!

The quote thatā€™s in the bad with the pearls says, ā€œonly if you dive for pearls shall you find oneā€.

You found a perfect use for the memorial jar- that sounds so lovely! :jar:  The pictures are gorgeous too- look at those beach roses! :rose:

Wishing a very happy and blessed anniversary to you and your husband! :tada:

Hooray! Looking forward to seeing what you do- have fun with it, Megan!

Same here!

Hahaha as soon as the challenge posts, I start to daydream and wonder about what everyone will do- I admit I get really excited about it!

Once the ocean is in your heart, it never lets you go- after all those years by the sea, the ocean is part of you now, BrightBear! You can call on and draw on that energy whenever you wish :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: :ocean:

Like the concept of infinity, it is mind-boggling to grapple with just how deep and how vast the ocean really is. Words donā€™t do it justice- it is massive. There is so much down there and, to be honest, I try not to think too much about it because it scares me too :joy:

Who knows what else is down there in the deep- still lurking in the cold, dark hearth of the Earth? The possibilities are both exciting and frightening!

Your idea to do the ritual in honor of the lost souls of the Titanic is really lovely. Wishing you all the best, my Delphin bless your spellwork! :sparkles:

You are so sweet, Kat!!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: I canā€™t tell you enough how happy it makes me that you enjoy the challenges so much- hearing that makes it all worthwhile, thank you!:blush:

It sounds like the ocean has called to you since you were a kid- you were welcomed in the waves and embraced by the beach! :beach_umbrella: :grinning: Iā€™m sorry that June is a tough time for you, but I hope that playing with the ocean theme can help wash away any sadness you feel.

Sending big hugs- have fun with how you tackle the challenge! :ocean: :two_hearts:

Looks like we were on the save wavelength once again, Marsha! :+1:  :ocean: It was truly time for an ocean challenge! Feel free to bring your lovely ocean-related things into the spotlight, as it is their time to shine :sparkles:

And I know the mountains have a strong call of their own- perhaps a mountain and land-based challenge is due in the future too! :grinning:

Sounds like fun! Hope you both have a wonderful trip to the beach :beach_umbrella: :two_hearts:

Whatā€™s better than the beach? Going to the beach with your furry friends so you can all splish-splash together! :ocean: :dog: :two_hearts: And you have so many amazing beaches to choose from- where you live is a real blessing (plus some very funny names!), Jessica!

Congrats on the end of isolating- I know its a tough time. You go right ahead and blow out the cobwebs- take in the fresh air and let the waves refresh and rejuvinate you! :raised_hands:

Very cool revelations on discovering more water in your charts- as someone who shares a lot of water in their stars, it does open a lot of possibilities to explore! :water_element:

That is really beautiful  The ocean is a very powerful force for washing away that which no longer aids us. And itā€™s a really moving ritual to do too

Iā€™m sure whatever you choose to do will be wonderful- good luck!

This is your challenge, Siofra! Canā€™t wait to see what you choose to do :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Iā€™m sorry about the electric problems- I hope they get that fixed for you asap!

The memory of have in the boat sounds very magickal indeed. Nothing like being rocked to relaxation in the gentle arms of the waves. So beautiful! :ocean:

And I love that pearl quote too- very true! :oyster:
