Chaos Crazy Wild Magic Magick

:upside_down_face: :boom: Chaos Magick  :tornado:

Exploring a freeing and creative area of magick

What is “Chaos Magick”?

Chaos Magick is a curious aspect of magick that deals with workings outside of the norm. It emerged in England in the 1970’s, and is often credited to the occultist Peter Carroll .

Chaos Magic is playful and creative because it rejects dogmatic, traditional structures. It is an attitude that promotes experimentation and imagination. The belief system in which we engage means more to the outcome of the ritual or spell than the fundamentalist and rigid practicing of specific rites. Therefore, it is our belief what ultimately makes the Magic work.

Unexpected and unpredictable, Chaos magic can be freeing and fun . With its lawless attitude, anything goes and is repeated as long as there are tangible results to back it up.

From the Spells8 Wicca Level 2 Course: the Introduction to Chaos Magick

When it comes to Chaos Magick, practitioners are free to throw rules and doctrine out the window- the name of the game is freedom, and the only limits are those that you set in place for yourself.

This week is all about exploring Chaos Magick - but (perhaps more-so now than ever!) how you do so is up to you!

So are you ready? Because it’s…

There are not as many suggested spells as I usually include this week (I suppose such is the nature of Chaos Magick to not have things written down!)- so this one is a real test of creativity! :sparkles:

Luckily, this is one creative and talented coven :infinite_roots:  I’m really looking forward to seeing how you all explore Chaos Magick in your own unique ways!

Blessed be!

Oooo this sounds like a good one for my funny little brain. Channel some of the chaos.

I agree with @jessica72. My brain is always chaotic so this might work out well for me. I haven’t studied Chaos Magick yet, so thank you @Kasandra and @BryWisteria . This should be fun and interesting!

Lol this is so funny I normally use more chaos magic then traditional magic. My craft is a mix of both.

Chaos magic has always been intriguing to me because of its structure, or lack of structure  I think I’ll explore the idea of servitors and egregores for this challenge. I’ve always wanted to create a servitor but haven’t found a good book or yet.

I do want to mention real quick that the books I see recommended for Chaos Magic are usually written by Phil Hines, so that might be a good place to start for anyone looking for books.

Whoa…you mean performing magick I can’t somehow put into a chart? LOL this is going to be a big stretch for me but I’m going to try it! That’s what challenges are all about, right? Learning and trying new things.

I’ve always wanted to delve into chaos magick. I’m excited for this!

I had to think for a moment about to do. But I realized that this would be the perfect opportunity to work with Luqueas, the dragon trickster god. I’m thinking of asking him to send me the answer to a question in the form of an image, draw it…without looking, and then trying to decipher its meaning.

Eep. This is gonna be weird.

Chaos Magick, Hmmm what should a person do for this one, need to think on this one for me.

Oakey dokey artichokey I finally managed to track down a piece of Rhodochrosite. She finally arrived in the post yesterday. I really wanted to add Rhodochrosite to my emotional healing crystal kit.

On the 2nd April it marks exactly 6 months that I kicked him to the curb. It’s his birthday on the 25th of April so I’ve been having all the thoughts about all the things that I would have been buying him and basically just trying to spoil him as a much a so I could to make him happy. He’s been in my head so much lately I just want him out. I am so tried of hurting over him.

I had a brainwave at 2am this morning to add my piece of Rhodochrosite to my Rose Quartz and Rhodonite that I already have in my emotional healing crystal kit. What if I took those two out and just made a simple set of three?

Rhodonite - Deal with betrayal and abandonment, improve self-love and self-worth, nurture inner self, and a first aid stone to the heart.

Rhodochrosite - A powerful heart healer; directs love towards self for emotional healing, acknowledge and release pain.

Rose Quartz - Releasing grief, self-forgiveness and acceptance, heals emotional wounds to the heart.

Then I quickly tried to scribble this down as it bubbled in my brain.

I ask you, Rose Quartz, Rhodonite and Rhodochrosite,
Bring me out of my world of darkness and into the light.
Teach me to have love for myself and not love for the other,
A sense of self-love and self-worth, help me to rediscover.
Please help me my humble little crystal trilogy,
How much better off I am without him, let that be what I see.
From all this pain and heartbreak, let me now be free.
This is my wish and my intention, so mote it be.

Holding the three stones together they just feel right. They almost feel like they have a hum of energy. I’m hoping that these three together will help to rip the last remaining tendrils of Mitch’s toxicity out of my heart and head and help me to be ok with me.

I think what I currently do is a derivative of chaos magic  I never write anything down & always say what I want as it comes to me. So putting some order to the 2 different approaches to find where I fall in the middle will be interesting. I am going to enjoy diving into this one, thank you :hugs: @Kasandra & @BryWisteria

@jessica72 that is a great combination of crystals for what your intention is & the “scribble” is a wonderful job too of setting the intention. Awesome entry!

@Jessica72 Sounds like chaos magick is your cup of tea, Jessica! And congrats to you on your 6-month anniversary of freedom- so proud of you! :tada: That is some lovely spontaneous crystal work, Jessica- and I love that you let the chant flow into your mind. May it help you cut the cords and continue to move on, charging forward on your journey of healing

@Ostara It’s definitely an interesting area of magick haha- I hope you enjoy learning more about it, Ostara!

@Nikita-mikaelson Sounds like it could be a perfect theme for you, Nikita- if you have any tips on how you use chaos magick, please feel free to share them! :star_struck:

@MeganB I don’t think I’ve ever heard about servitors/egregores- sounds exciting! :sparkles: And thank you very much for the book recommendations for chaos magick :books::smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

@Mary25 Right on, Mary- although some challenges are certainly more challenging than others, depending on the person :grinning: But yes, nothing ventured nothing gained! I like to think that the more challenging the challenge, the greater you’ll be able to expand your knowledge and develop your practice :raised_hands: You can do this- I’m cheering for you!

@Jem1 Hooray, Jem! Hope you have fun exploring chaos magick

@Kasandra Working with a trickster god definitely crosses the line into chaos- sounds like a great plan for the challenge, Kasandra! May you enjoy your work with Luqueas

@Amethyst Embrace the weird! It can certainly be… strange, but there is a lot of fun in chaos too  :two_hearts:

@Debra2 This challenge does require some creative thought into what to do, but I have faith in you, Debra! Have fun exploring chaos magick!

@Susurrus Sounds like the power of chaos and spontaneity come naturally to you, Siofra- that’s awesome! Have fun with it and can’t wait to see what you do for the challenge :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

What you wrote was beautiful. Rhodochrosite is also for compassion. For the bearer of the crystal. I’ve noticed that you’ve been maturing spiritually. The three of your crystals are a wonderful choice for you and for your situation.

@BryWisteria – Servitors are something I’ve wanted to experiment with for a while! The basic explanation of a servitor is that it’s an energy form created by the witch for a specific purpose. It’s given a form, a home, and a job to do. So I could create a servitor that’s purpose is to warn me of malicious magic against me. I could also create a servitor who’s job is to make sure my YouTube videos and podcast episodes find people that need to hear/see them. Or I could even create a servitor who’s job is to guard my garden and keep the squirrels away (which that’s probably the one I’ll do because they’re eating my plants!)

Interesting topic - my first thought when say the topic was chaos magic was storm magic but I’m not sure it’s the same thing. I’m not sure if what I’ve read of looked at or watched, that I’ve understood correct but it seems that chaos magic is almost going with the flow and relying on intuition in the moment rather than planning out a spell as such. Ironically my life seems to be in a constant state of chaos so if my understanding of this challenge is correct and it’s at least I’m part using intuition to deal with what ever situation faced with ( there are alot of curve balls coming my way lately) then I’d like to try use n trust my intuition in each instance to use my magical practice or tools etc in each situation or even just using energy in that moment to help deal with what’s going on. If this is really about being in the moment, using intuitional type magic to deal with situations as they come, considering my life has become a real whirlwind of one thing after another and don’t know what to deal with first, I dont have time or energy spare or money n resources on me to always plan a spell to help so if I’m understanding the challenge correctly the timing seems to work that using chaos magic which is not structured like traditional magic to deal with and cope with chaos I’m facing each day. Then I’m ready for the challenge. I’m not sure what or how I’m going to be able to use chaos magic specifically yet but I’m bracing myself for each day not knowing what it will bring and I’m listening or trying to listen for my intuition on how to utilise magic in each moment. I almost wonder if using that chaos energy around me to channel it into an intent of a positive outcome will work. I don’t know. Tommorow will have who knows what so now I’ve got ( I think) an idea of what chaos magic is, I’m going to see if I can utilise it to help create some positive outcomes in what ever situations pop up around me. :crossed_fingers: it has been like I’ve been standing in the middle of a hurricane lately and so much debris flying around I’m not sure what to dodge or protect myself from, or what to try save or protect or how to fix or what to fix or what to let go. Mat be rather than fighting the storm maybe I should try using the energy from the storm to try create some positive outcome from it. Hopefully I can make some good come of this. Hopefully my intuition doesn’t fail me n I don’t get overwhelmed. I some times joke about having spaces of organised chaos. You know, that room that is chaotic and so much random stuff but it’s been organised into piles ext. Lol now I am having to look at chaos from a magical standpoint. And all I can think of is a storm and the irony of this challenge coming during a time when my life is pretty much a whole lot of chaos everyday. Lol well I guess heres to trying a little chaos magic, not to harm or create chaos but harness it’s energy for some good. I may be way off the mark on understanding what chaos magic is so my apologies if that’s the case. Hope everyone’s doing well and having a good week so far :cherry_blossom::rose::hibiscus::bouquet:

I do love me some chaos :smiling_imp:
My practice isn’t very organized right now, and I’m happy with it like that. I let my body and intuition guide me, and my mind to get excited about things.

A few days ago I felt called to create a potion to splash on my face to help with surface dryness and minor acne. I threw together some aloe vera, rose and lavender hydrolates and melted snow, and it worked beautifully!

There’s been a virtual magickal retreat going on this week named ReWilding that I’ve been following. Ever since my last tantra course and my drum journey there I’ve been feeling like I need to get to know my inner wild woman even better, I think this is a perfect challenge for that too!

This weekend I’m going to have the next part to that course, I’m so excited! Also there’s a dark moon circle on Friday I’m participating in, so much to draw new inspiration from :sparkles:

In the summer I’m going to a cabin in the northern wilds with my love, and I feel called to bring a drum, maybe one I’ve helped bring into this world myself… I’ll keep my eyes open and trust my subconscious to take me there! :relaxed:

EDIT: Oh, I’ve also been practicing Existential Kink, I’m sure you’ll agree that’s a pretty chaotic philosophy! :joy: Put shortly, it involves total surrender to your life circumstances and feeling ecstatic joy about how helplessly we’re bound by them and how our whole life can be seen and felt as one big sexual act with the Divine… Love Carolyn Elliott and her wild, chaotic, unapologetically dirty mystic mind, you can read more of her ramblings (and of some guest stars) here!

@MeganB Wow, that sounds really interesting- I’m trying to picture it, and I’m getting something like a mix between a sigil and a computer server (maybe because of the similar sounding names haha). Thank you for the intro to servitors, Megan, they open up a lot of new possibilities! :star_struck:

@Phoenix_Fire I would definitely consider putting trust in your intuition to guide you through any chaos that comes to be relevant to the challenge- I also think learning to trust and develop your intuition are very important skills in magick, so good for you Danni! May you continue to overcome any chaos that comes your way and always rise on top of it- thanks for sharing your reflection on chaos magick!

@CelestiaMoon It sounds like you have truly embraced and mastered your chaos, Celestia- that is really impressive how you’ve incorporated it into your practice and daily life! :raised_hands: The rituals and circles sound like fun- I hope you have a blast and are able to learn a lot! Thanks so much for sharing!
