While we may have all started on journeys in different ways, all witches go through periods of learning and growth. And one of the best ways to do so is through reading :open_book:

Whether you are a fan of traditional paper books, use modern accessible methods to download your tomes, or find knowledge in articles online- there is so much to learn in the black and white text!

Are you ready!? Itā€™s CHALLENGE TIME! :trophy:

:memo: A book on your wish-list youā€™ve been waiting for an excuse to buy?

:open_book: A tome half-read that you havenā€™t had the chance to finish?

:headphones: Perhaps you have an audiobook waiting for you to listen to?

This challenge is all about strengthening your magickal practice through reading and books :sparkles:

Oh this is a perfect recovery challenge! I am reading a book about Celtic Gods and Goddesses. I started it a couple of weeks ago, then I was told about having surgery and it got put on the back burner. Iā€™m so happy about it being a thing to do for the challenge. So far I like the book, I am still in the first chapter so i canā€™t tell you mcuh else about it, but I do like what I have read so far.

So I found this in TK Maxx yesterday and literally just read through it this morning!
Be More Witch by Alison Davies

Itā€™s a super cute little book of positivity for new witches, anyone who needs a boost of motivation or - Iā€™d say - a great present for anyone who is interested in dabbling in magic without going whole-hog!
It is full of beautiful pictures, motivational quotes and empowering messages.

There are a few really lovely looking spells dotted about inside too like this one which Iā€™d love to try out!

All in all a lovely read, a very pretty little book and full to the brim of positivity. It left me feeling happy, motivated and so grateful to have found this path.
(However, I do think Iā€™m ready for some slightly more challenging and in-depth reading, so onwards and upwards we go!)

Yes! So I just joined Kindle Unlimited (I swear Iā€™m addicted, I think Iā€™m subscribed to all of their services :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:) and have 4 books in my library. The first one Iā€™m digging into is the one that stood out to me the mostā€¦The Modern Guide to Witchcraft.

Happy Reading Witches!
Blessed Be!

How exciting! I finally started flipping through the Solitary Witch book I was gifted for my birthday, so thatā€™s where Iā€™m going to take this challenge! I canā€™t wait to update you all on what I learn & to see what everyone else does! I have a feeling my Amazon wishlist will see some new additions by the time this challenge ends next week! Yay!

I love how the universe always seems to give us things that we need, not only in regards to these challenges, but in so many aspects of life!

@Rowan, yes I love kindle unlimited! I joined about the time the pandemic started and got 2 months for free and now itā€™s only 10 per month. Which is a bargain. I have all my Witchy books on there. Its really great!!

@Limeberry The Witches Book of Self Care by Arin Murphy-Hiscock and Witch Crafting by Phyllis Curott. Have you read any of these?

Awesome! Thanks @BryWisteria for organizing this!! I have lots of books so Iā€™ll have to pick one and Iā€™ll be sharing it!

Thanks for all the great recommendations.

@Rowan I havenā€™t read any of those but Phyllis Curott is a well-known high priestess thatā€™s been around for some time. She hosted a Howcast series about Wicca which was very influential in the early days of Youtube!

Awesome- I imagine there is a lot of great information about Brigid in the book! :star_struck: It sounds really interesting, Krissie- is the title ā€œCeltic Gods and Goddessesā€? I hope you have the chance to read a bit more while you recover. Let us know how you like it!

This is such a cute and positive book! I love the pictures, motivational boosts, and the spellwork- what a great find! You really get lucky with the treasures in your TK Maxx :+1: Thanks for sharing! :two_hearts:

Yes! That is the name of the book, I will try to post a picture later on, I have it in a drawer by my bed. I like the way that itā€™s written and itā€™s very interesting to read about the different deities for the Celtic culture.

Ooh! More to add to my list! I havenā€™t really read any books yet
I should have:

Iā€™ve read the Witchā€™s Book of Self Care and itā€™s really good. Itā€™s got a great explanation for grounding and centering that really helped me learn.

Heh. Not all of my books are WItchy ones of course, but a good deal of them are. I started one yesterday but it annoyed me so much I picked another book. Glad I only paid a dollar for it. Iā€™m reading Embrace the Moon by Yasmine Galenorn and it looks promising.

Itā€™s hard to pick a favorite really, but I will say that I have bought Wicca A Guide for Solitary Practitioners and Living Wicca by Scott Cunningham for my kindle even though I have them in book form. Heā€™s always dependable for a good read. Itā€™s sad that he was lost to us so early.

Itā€™s here and itā€™s beautiful and I love it!
Iā€™m already halfway through the 2nd chapter- I canā€™t put it down!
There are spells for absolutely everything! In the introduction she encourages growth and adaptation of her spells to suit your needs and purposes, thereā€™s no ā€˜do this or it wonā€™t workā€™.
Iā€™m finding tons of lightbulb moments already with things I want to try/ideas I could adapt.
Truly a fabulous book!
